Define When the AI Should Stop Responding
Explicit customer request, low confidence, restricted topic, unauthorized action, repetition, and signs of frustration are examples of triggers. The set varies according to the agent's risk and purpose.
A limit cannot rely solely on the AI perceiving it has failed. Objective rules and user actions provide additional ways to interrupt automation.
Transferring Requires Choosing a Destination and Priority
Subject, customer, contract, language, location, and time can participate in routing. When no queue is available, the response must indicate what will happen and through which channel the return will occur.

Upon completing the handoff, the automation must not continue responding in parallel without a clear rule. The system must show who took over and the current state of the request.
If the agent returns the interaction to automation, the journey must define context, authorization, and message to the customer. Unexpected switches reduce trust.
Evaluate Why, When, and Where the Transfer Occurred
The handoff rate alone does not indicate success or failure. Analyze reason, intent, queue, wait time, resolution, recontact, and corrections made by the agent.
Many transfers due to lack of information may reveal an incomplete knowledge base. Few transfers with high abandonment may indicate that the human exit is hidden.
